*Message from Francesco Izzo!*

To the students of Lisette Oropesa’s masterclasses,

It was such a pleasure and privilege to have the opportunity to discuss belcanto opera with you today!  Lisette is a dear friend and an artist I admire enormously, and I am so grateful to her for the time and energy she is investing into this extraordinary initiative, and for the invitation to spend some time together with all of you.

As promised, I am sharing my Powerpoint slides with you.  In the final slides I have provided some suggested readings. Among these, the absolute must-go-to book on performing Italian opera is Philip Gossett’s Divas and Scholars. Thoroughly enjoyable and packed with information, which you’ll keep returning to as you continue to explore this amazing body of repertoire!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected]. I have a busy life, but I will try to answer any questions you might have.

I wish you the very best with your study and careers.  These are very challenging times, but be assured that the world needs your energy, talent, and creativity more than ever!  Stay healthy and safe, and I’ll look forward to meeting many of you in person as opportunities arise.

All the best,

Francesco
